Replacement Child Art Showcase #2

I made this sculpture in 1993, it was in art class, 12th grade. We were asked to make a self-portrait, or to create an artwork that would somehow represent us. I divided myself into three: a colourful face which I would be happy to present and show, on its back a dark, destroyed and hidden side, and the third face somehow representing what I felt was an escape from the situation and place I grew up in: travel. The quote I added is from Goethe’s Faust: ‘Two souls, alas, are dwelling in my breast.

Warm Regards,

Julia
